Job Description

Paint aluminum boats in spec with departmental production schedule.

Key Responsibilities, Knowledge and skills for success in this position:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Paint parts, equipment, interiors, and exteriors of boats, using brushes, spray guns, and rollers.
  • Mix solvents according to formula.
  • Burn off old paint, using blowtorch.
  • Fill cracks and holes with patching plaster, putty, or plastic wood.
  • Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, and other preparations.
  • Mix and match colors of paint, varnish, stain, shellac, and calcimine.
  • Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch on surfaces.
  • Bake finishes on painted and enameled articles in baking oven.
  • Cut stencils, and brush or spray lettering and decorations on surfaces.
  • Keep a clean and safe work area.
  • Properly use, store and clean required safety equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures and drawings with supervision.
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, collect data and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Wearing of company provided personal protection equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to team members and supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year or less experience in painting or demonstrated ability to perform essential duties.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequent reaching with arms and hands.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Walk, climb and balance frequently.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of 50 pounds or more.
  • Close vision focus, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
