REPORTS TO: Residential Manager

LOCATION: PSIS, Omak, WA

Basic Functions: The Home Living Assistant position requires healthy and functional home style role modeling, some meal preparation, housekeeping duties, chaperoning, and some recreation activities. The Home Living Assistant is responsible for providing safe and healthy living environment for residential students, assist with academic studies and instruction of basic life skills. The Home Living Assistant will be responsible for supervising students from the ages of 5-17 years.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Typically requires an Associate's Degree (preferred), and a minimum of 32 Semester Credits or 48 Quarter Credits or successfully passed PAXIS Test.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Washington State Driver license.
  • Obtain First Aid/CPR Card in 30 days.
  • Requires submitting transcripts/proof of degree/certifications and three written letters of reference upon applying.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ensures residential students meet all scheduled mental health/IRG Counseling, recreation, academic and dormitory activities. They will also assist students in academic and life skill activities.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and sign Paschal Sherman Indian School Confidentiality Oath Form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors and subordinates.
  • Must be able to maintain professionalism and role model demeanor at all times.
  • Monitors and reports on residential student compliance with scheduled activities; and on residential student behavior as provided by the residential program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clean dormitory areas and vehicles as provided for by the Residential Program.
  • Works in coordination with teachers, parents, residential program staff and School Nurse.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training activities.
  • Maintains documentation in a daily log.
  • Administers medication to residential students under direction of doctor or school nurse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must submit to a post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Must pass Washington State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colville Tribe criminal history background checks.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
