Assist in the care and feeding of livestock, and with daily operations and research at the University Ranch/MIR Center under the direct supervision of Mr. Cody Riddle, University Farm and Ranch Manager.

Duties include:

Lifting, moving, sorting, vaccinating, and feeding sheep, goats, and cattle, and other livestock, as necessary.

Mixing feed for livestock.

Spraying invasive species for range management.

Assist in the repair and maintenance of fencing and ranch facilities.

Assist with graduate research projects, and as a deer hunt guide during hunting season.

Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

* Must be a currently enrolled student and registered for classes.

* Must be 18 years of age and able to pass a driver approval background check.

* Expected to work some weekends to feed and care for livestock.

* Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of daily care and feeding of livestock; tagging, weaning and sorting of cattle, sheep and goats.

Skilled in the use of tractors, farm trucks and trailers, welders, cutting torch, feed mill, livestock sprayers, ATV and UTV.

Ability to work independently on projects, as directed.

Physical Demands

Ability to pick up and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.

Ability to work standing, including heavy lifting, moving livestock, moving about on concrete, in pastures, fields, and livestock pens.

Ability to work with pesticides in an environment which includes exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, foul odors, and extreme heat and cold.
