Job Details
Main Purpose
To perform a variety of basic laborer, and helper duties, from cleaning up work areas to tacking iron and steel structural components (handrails, grating for walkways, pipe fittings, plate, and beams) in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
- Provide any and all help and labor assistance for the assigned department.
- Retrieve and pick up necessary hand tools, materials, and supplies from the toolroom for their respective supervisor.
- Clean up work areas whenever necessary to help ensure safety and prevent possible safety hazards.
- Pick-up and lock-up hand tools, equipment, etc., used during the day to prevent unnecessary losses and related expenses due to negligent damages or theft.
- Work with chipping hammers and power grinders.
- Move come-a-longs from one work area to another.
- Perform minor tacking and cutting duties assigned by their immediate supervisor.
- Help measure iron and steel materials (pipe, plate, beams, etc.) that are being used in the daily fabrication process.
- Operate machines as directed.
- Operate man lifts only when authorized by their immediate supervisor.
- Assist in rigging and setting up scaffolds.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned

- Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing- These are all considered regular physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this industrial environment safely and efficiently.
- Lifting - employees must lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.
- Fingering, Feeling, Talking, Hearing & Seeing - This position requires an individual to be able to perform these physical activities/duties regularly as they are necessary to perform the job.
Job Requirements - Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass background checks to company policy.
Tools and Equipment: Helpers will work with power grinders and chippers, chipping hammers, burning torches, welding/tacking guns/whips, measuring tapes, levels, come-a-longs, scaffolds, jacks, sledgehammers, etc.
Environmental Conditions Ninety percent of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
