Description

The Plant Quality Manager role in Rich Hill, MO, US involves overseeing daily operations of the on-site laboratory at an Integrated Proteins facility. Responsibilities include validating data in the Lab Data Sheet, ensuring employee compliance with laboratory protocols and company regulations, communicating Quality Control objectives to technicians, and maintaining alignment with the Food Safety Modernization Act and current Good Manufacturing practices for Safe Quality Foods.

Responsibilities

Supervise day-to-day operations of the quality leads and technicians
Assist in hiring and (re)training quality personnel
Assist in evaluating employee performance
Address and resolve team conflicts
Approve and assist in covering PTO
Oversee lab equipment maintenance and calibration
Create and maintain lab budget with assistance of lead technicians
Oversee retain program on-site & conduct 3rd party testing as directed
Monitor shared lab email inbox and make sure all emails are responded to in a timely manner
Participate in monitoring Quality shared email inboxes during off-hours to make rejection determinations in a timely manner
Review documentation to ensure adherence to quality system
Perform internal audits of quality system, including but not limited to crisis management and recall
Assist Corporate Quality with 3rd party audits and inspections
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

College degree (Biology or Chemistry preferred)
3+ years management experience
Proficiency with Office 365 (primarily Excel, SharePoint, Outlook)
SQF Practitioner (or trained within 1st year)
PCQI Animal Feed (or trained within 1st year)
HACCP certified or equivalent knowledge of food safety and quality
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple projects independently
Clear verbal communicator

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, walk, reach, squat, push, pull, and climb stairs for extended periods of time
Must be able to work from elevated surfaces and/or in confined spaces for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
