Hours: FT Position - 40 hours per week with flexibility as needed by the program. Requires five 8-hour days, including some weekend days

MISSION AND NEED: Holy Family Institute (HFI) is a 120-year-old Catholic organization with an impeccable history of serving children and families in the Pittsburgh Region. We are one of Pittsburgh's largest social service organizations operating 15 programs in three counties. We are an independent organization guided by Catholic Social Teachings and serving people of all faiths and backgrounds.

General Statement of Duties: The Security Specialists will provide 24/7 security, making rounds, monitoring visitors on campus, watching video cameras, ensuring safety of the campus, and completing end of shift reports to the Safety & Security Manager. Security Specialists will monitor additional activities related to overall building and ground safety and security. Final approval for hire will be done by the Project Officer of the Office of Refugee and Resettlement.

Essential Functions:

  • Documents and reports all incidents per agency policy and procedure
  • Completes regular rounds per program's policies and procedures
  • Promotes positive professional image of the agency through interpersonal interactions and appearance
  • Maintains professional, supportive relationship with all agency staff, volunteers, local community members, outside contractors, and vendors
  • Conducts and generates written reports
  • Responds quickly to and handles fire alarms and other campus emergencies
  • Corrects minor safety hazards
  • Monitors card access systems, video surveillance, and two-way radio systems
  • Checks and locks facilities and creates a record of any open/unlocked doors
  • Capable of frequently climbing stairs and other activities that involve physical exertion (i.e. walking hallways, walking across campus)
  • Ability to drive a car or van
  • Attends required trainings and staff meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor


Minimum Requirements

Must have High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years experience in safety, security and/or the human service field preferred. Must be proficient with computers. Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, be able to perform physical activities, have good verbal, written and oral communication skills. Must obtain Act 33/34 and FBI clearances. EOE.
