Here, you will work with and learn from some of our best caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Health Information Management, the Clerk, Data Analysis Release of Information (ROI), is responsible for performing various duties concerning release of medical information to health care facilities, physicians, attorneys, third party payers, insurance companies, government officials, etc. The ROI clerk answers all subpoenas and court orders, makes court appearances as required and maintains information related to all of the above in the electronic medical records system (ChartMaxx).The Future Caregiver is someone who: Can schedule and manage tasks effectively. When you join Cleveland Clinic, you'll be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare.Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pmResponsibilities:Responsible for release of information for continuity of care, medical-legal purposes and for review in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, ensuring the confidentiality of the information stored in the medical record.Prepares copies of medical records for release including but not limited to health care facilities, physicians, attorneys, third party payors and insurance companies.Utilizes various computer programs to retrieve, print, send, maintain, and track the release of confidential health information (HIS, Intranet, ChartMaxx, etc.).Acts as receptionist for the Health Information Department, assisting, handling, and directing inquiries as appropriate in response to telephone, mail, email and in-person requests.Verifies, completes, certifies, and delivers court documents in response to subpoenas and court orders as necessary.Receives, processes, and responds to all patient requests for amendments of their medical records.Sends invoices, receives, processes, posts payments and makes deposits of all cash and checks received in ROI as related to copy fees for records.Stays current with all federal, state and local statutes and hospital rules concerning release of confidential medical information and copy fees.Assists patients, physicians, ancillary personnel and other departments with questions and concerns about release of confidential information.Participates in appropriate inservices and training programs.Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.Other duties as assignedEducation:High school graduate or the equivalent; Associate degree in business preferred.Certifications:None requiredComplexity of Work:Computer proficiency to include knowledge of Windows and electronic medical records systems (e.g. ChartMaxx).Knowledge of basic medical terminology.Strong written and verbal communication skills organizational skills and attention to detail.Work Experience:One year experience in a hospital medical records department.Physical Requirements:Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as requiredSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
