Definition

This is a full-time (Laborers and Helpers) position in the Parks and Recreation Department. An individual in this position will maintain landscaping and hardscaping in City parks, facilities, and rights-of-way. Reports to Park Crew Leader or Superintendent.

Examples of Work

  • Mow and trim areas; remove litter; conduct visual inspections of park areas; report problems or safety concerns; maintain city provided equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on facilities, equipment and fences; prepare athletic fields.
  • Perform landscape duties such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weeding and watering trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Assist with construction projects and special events as needed.
  • Work on emergency operations during natural disasters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Subject to 24-hour recall.

Education, Experience, or Certification

High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate, a Class C driver's license and one (1) year of grounds maintenance or construction experience required.
