Inspired Solutions is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) and will be responsible for utilizing a broad-based clinical knowledge to deliver patient-centered care. The RN is responsible for assessing, implementing health promotion and prevention interventions, managing acute and chronic illnesses, aiding in rehabilitation, evaluating patient responses to health issues, and providing supportive measures for dying patients and their families. Nursing care is conducted in accordance with the Arkansas Registered Nurses Practice Act and within the nurses scope of license. Clinical oversight is provided by the CAVHS Nurse Manager or designated nursing leadership.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Key Responsibilities

    1. Patient Care and Safety
      • Maintain patient/resident confidentiality and a safe care environment.
      • Adhere to requirements for medication administration, patient education, discharge processes, restraint usage, and hazardous waste disposal as defined by The Joint Commission and other VA regulatory bodies.
    2. Patient-Centered Care
      • Assess health care needs and develop plans to meet interdisciplinary goals.
      • Respond to significant changes in patient/resident health conditions.
      • Carry out plans of care and delegate tasks appropriately.
      • Document pertinent data into the electronic medical record.
      • Complete nursing assessments within required time frames and in accordance with policies.
      • Identify and act on predictable needs of patients/residents.
      • Address emotional and spiritual needs of patients/residents and their families.
      • Prioritize and complete tasks within the assigned shift.
      • Update patient/resident care plans.
      • Notify the assigned physician of any changes in condition.
      • Report incidents of verbal or physical abuse immediately to the Nurse Manager or designated nursing leadership.
    3. Clinical Competency Tasks
      • Perform head-to-toe assessments.
      • Insert IV lines and manage peripheral and central lines, including PICC lines.
      • Administer medications, including IV medications.
      • Coordinate and participate in patient admission and discharge.
      • Measure vital signs, including pain and pulse oximetry.
      • Perform wound care, including dressing changes and obtaining wound cultures.
      • Obtain and deliver lab specimens.
      • Perform tracheostomy care and ventilator care as needed.
      • Perform suctioning, including oral, nasogastric, and tracheostomy.
      • Administer tube feedings.
      • Assist with urinary and bowel elimination, including catheter and colostomy care.
      • Perform enemas and other supportive measures as needed.
      • Educate patients/residents and their families about health, diagnoses, and medication administration.
      • Respond and assist in emergency situations.
      • Provide clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Health Technicians.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work Schedule: CAVHS operates 24/7 and requires flexible scheduling for its nursing services. Temporary contract nursing services supplement full-time staff as needed due to vacancies, vacations, resignations, or illnesses. Notification of required needs may be given within 24-48 hours. Coverage may include weekends, federal holidays, days, evenings, or overnights and is variable within a 24-hour period.

  • Location: Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare Systems (CAVHS) campuses located at 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 and (Eugene J. Towbin Healthcare Center) located at 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72114
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for acute care, med-surg, or critical care areas.
  • One (1) year of experience in a specialty area, with experience within the past three years.
  • Proof of updated licenses and certifications.
