Talascend is currently seeking a Business Data Analyst for a contract opportunity located in Ridgefield Park, NJ.
OVERVIEW:
The main function of a business operations specialist is to maintain vendor relationships, acting as a business analyst for non-IT projects or filling organizational roles above an administrative level, but below a management level. Other responsibilities may include maintaining all project management processes, including project goals, deadlines, metrics and budget. The business operations specialist usually reports to a project manager or director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and approve contracts, cost proposals and contract supplements.
- Approve project and work breakdown structures.
- Review and approve the documentation of business processes.
- Approve project budgets and expenditures, monitor transaction controls and costs against budgets.
- Predict potential budget overruns and offer solutions.
- Consult with corporate offices, project managers, auditors, client and sub-consultant representatives regarding future proposals.
- Prepare sub-agreements and review and input sub-consultant invoices to ensure contact compliance.
- Manage: multiple initiatives to review areas and potential areas of financial risk and loss in a complex sales and fulfillment environment.
- Build: reporting and dashboards that quantify scope of issues and measure improvements from mitigation strategies.
- Optimize: develop data -driven perspectives on areas of potential and actual financial loss. Define opportunities for improvement. Quantify current and future scenarios for presentation to internal stakeholders for prioritization.
- Innovate: think outside-the-box, leverage data, and build insights to create business cases
- This role is critical to maintain reporting to focus resources. Additionally, this role needs to be able to receive a risk issue (problem statement) and determine which tables and columns must be queried to determine the size and scope of the problem as well as find the best attribute to mitigate the issue.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time.
- Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Expert ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
- Expert ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel; Enterprise Application experience a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting or relevant field required.
- 10+ years experience required.
- College degree required.
- Advanced level skill in Microsoft Office Applications especially Excel. Skills with pivot tables, vlookup, advanced formulas, etc.
- Extensive experience in data mining, analysis, business case development and reporting.
- Expert skill in SQL and Tableau.
- Ability to work with large data sets.
- Familiarity with the identification and resolution of issues working with disparate sources of data and data quality issues.
- Passion for identifying issues and driving initiatives to improve them.
- Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams and navigate matrixed organizations.
- Strong analytical, data-driven problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines. In addition, must be able to manage multiple projects and often competing priorities.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently and manage ones time.
- Experience with Confluence and Jira.
- Creative problem solving.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Kibana experience a plus
- Additional visualization tools like Power BI and MicroStrategy a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time.
- The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time under 25 pounds.
- Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids representative and commonly associated with PCs, printers, and office work areas.
- Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
- Work under little direct supervision, with complete access to confidential company data where disclosure may jeopardize the company's competitive position.
