Job Summary

Responsible for operating a variety of solid waste vehicles to collect and transport solid waste and recycling materials. Assist in the maintenance of the irrigation system. Using hand and power tools perform a variety of tasks to maintain campus landscaping in presentable condition. The position will also assist in general grounds maintenance under the direction of the Irrigation Specialist and the Grounds Supervisor.

Job Description

  • Help maintain lawns, gardens, shrubbery, and trees. Care for and cultivate foliage including planting, fertilizing, weeding, watering, trimming and pruning, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pesticides.
  • Ensure pathways, stairs, outdoor seating, and other structures are safe using power washers, leaf blowers, and trimmers.
  • Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions. Operate and maintain garden and landscaping equipment.
  • Assists the irrigation specialist with installing irrigation systems, inspect, audit, adjust, and repair the system to ensure they perform at maximum efficiency and conserve water.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintains and cares for assigned landscaped areas.
  • Cultivates and fertilizes lawns, plants, shrubs, and trees; prepares soil for sowing seeds, waters turf, and ornamental ground covers, sprays, and reseeds turf.
  • Operates gardening equipment such as riding lawn mowers, power edger's, power mowers, and other related equipment.
  • Sweeps and maintains sidewalks, driveways, building entrances, and other assigned areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Approximate starting hourly rate: $17.50 - $19.00. The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.
