is currently hiring for Equipment Operator I, II in Fruit Heights, Utah. This position performs semi-skilled and skilled truck driving, heavy equipment operation and other duties as required for construction, repair, and maintenance projects.

Requirements

Level I
  • High school graduation plus one (1) year of full-time truck driving experience.
  • Possess a valid Class B Utah Commercial Driver License and a Driver's Medical Card; must obtain a Class A CDL within six (6) months of hire.
  • May be required to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License (non-commercial) from the Utah Department of Agriculture and Health within six (6) months of hire depending on the position.

Level II
  • High school graduation plus two (2) years of full-time experience driving equipment of similar type and size.
  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL Commercial Driver License and a Driver's Medical Card.
  • May be required upon hire: Forklift Operations Training, Hazard Communications Training, UDOT Highway Operations Safety School, and Construction Traffic Control Training.
  • May be required to possess a Utah State Pesticide Control license depending on the position.

Day to Day Duties
  • Performs pre-use inspections on all trucks and equipment prior to use and at the end of shift.
  • Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, delivery and unloading of crushed gravel, fill dirt, road chips, hot mix asphalt, cold mix asphalt and other necessary road or flood control construction and repair materials.
  • Operates a variety of equipment to construct and repair roads and flood control projects, transport equipment, plow roads and performs other projects.
  • Spreads slag/rock chips for sealing roads. Spreads road base for repair of unimproved roads or to shoulder improved roads.
  • Performs manual labor such as loading and unloading trucks, trimming trees and bushes, cleaning curbs/catch basins, repairing fences, pouring and finishing concrete, filling and stacking sand bags when necessary.
  • Cleans and maintains storm drains; sets up concrete foundation forms, sets up curb and gutter forms; assists in repairing and laying of pipe.
  • Sets-up traffic control devices for construction zones.
  • Inspects and operates loader, roller, sander, snow plow and other heavy equipment when required.
