OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of Storeroom Supervisory Personnel, ORDERS, RECEIVES, and ISSUES material, tools, and parts in all Storeroom locations. DIP STICKS fuel, anti-freeze, transmission fluid, and other fluid tanks daily according to procedure. MAINTAINS log and ORDERS as needed. PACKAGES and SHIPS units for repair and RECEIVES repaired units as required. OPERATES forklift, pickers, and other material handling equipment for receiving, shipping, and movement of materials. UTILIZES personal computer and mainframe software applications for inventory tracking purposes. INVENTORIES materials as scheduled. MAINTAINS storeroom in clean and orderly fashion.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • STOCKS bins and/or racking with materials according to class/lot numbers and/or other formats.
  • RECEIVES material (deliveries via UPS, FedEx, Motor freight, etc.), OBTAINS proper signatures and ENTERS receipt of it into personal computer and/or mainframe software application. Follows departmental shipping, receiving, and other processes.
  • DIP STICKS fuel, anti-freeze, transmission fluid, and other fluid tanks on a daily basis according to procedure. MAINTAINS log of readings and ORDERS quantities as needed from vendor.
  • INVENTORIES materials daily and weekly as required.
  • MAINTAINS storeroom, bins, racking/shelving and floors in a clean and orderly fashion. REMOVES trash, sweep floors and general cleaning in Storeroom areas of responsibility.
  • OPERATES forklift and other material handling equipment for loading, unloading, put away and movement of material at Parent and Dependent locations. PERFORMS daily equipment maintenance such as recharging electric equipment, safety checks, and cleaning equipment.
  • REVIEWS all electronic and manual transfers, requisitions, and other documentation for accuracy and completion. REJECTS inaccurate or incomplete paperwork. RELEASES material with proper documentation.
  • MAINTAINS vehicle unit storage and inventory. TRACKS needed vehicle units being repaired. PACKAGES and SHIPS units for repair and RECEIVES repaired units as required.
  • RECEIVES and SHIPS transferred materials from and to affiliated storerooms; CHECKS or INITIATES shipping manifest, PACKAGES material accordingly. OBTAINS signature.
  • UTILIZES personal computer and mainframe software applications for inventory and documentation purposes.
  • RESPONDS to and ASSISTS shop window requests for materials. IDENTIFIES and LOCATES needed parts using both electronic and hard copy vehicle parts catalogue.
  • HANDLES and STORES hazardous material in accordance with proper procedures.
  • REQUESTS minimum/maximum inventory level changes as usage indicates.
  • PERFORMS miscellaneous duties as assigned; MAINTAINS filing system for storeroom documentation.
  • COMMUNICATES daily with Supply Chain and Operations Management to facilitate required material.


  • ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Working knowledge of general and specific materials used in support of fleet maintenance (or other relevant maintenance and operating environments). This would also include familiarity in the use of parts books to reference and identify materials on an as-required basis.
    • Must pass basic math test.
    • Must qualify on forklift operations.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of fundamental inventory techniques.
    MINIMUM NEW EXPERIENCE AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON THE JOB:
    • Knowledge of Department and Authority policies and procedures.
    • Ability to operate personal computer and familiarity with Authority mainframe applications.
    • Proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
    EQUIPMENT USED:

    Forklift, pickers, and other material handling equipment Personal Computer and various software products

    PHYSICAL :

    Approximately 20% sitting; 80% standing and moving about Lifts up to 75 pounds.
    Climbs ladder to remove material from bins. WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Dust and dirt from material. Noise from shop. Carbon monoxide from tow-motor trucks.
    Dust blown into storeroom from cleaning process in shop. Exposure to inclement weather conditions.
