Student Research Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Under the direction of an assigned Principal Investigator/Faculty, the research assistant will provide General Research Support under an assigned research project. Please note: These positions are grant-funded, time-limited position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (may include but not limited to):

* Provide research lab support, classify materials, arrange for equipment use, etc.

* Work with other research staff on projects.

* Prepare samples and materials for testing.

* Participate research meetings and collaborations.

* Research relevant literature.

* Reporting results as necessary.

* Assist with other work as necessary.

* Perform research and in a timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Strong technical skills in the use of personal computers, software, and various other electronic devices.

* Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.

* Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

* Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

* Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter.

* Ability to explain concepts to others effectively.

* Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success.

* Possess good organization skills and complete paperwork in a timely manner.

* Exhibit patience and positive attitudes in establish and encouraging an effective laboratory environment.

* Demonstrate flexibility in assigned duties, be able to move comfortably between different assignments and new projects as they emerge.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

* Must be in good academic standing.

* Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.

* Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

* This position requires a criminal background check.

* This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Varies and will be determined based on course schedule and research needs.

EXPECTED STARTING SALARY: $12.25 hourly.
