The Position

Highway Maintenance Workers are certified by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to operate a variety of complex or specialized highway maintenance and construction equipment in order to restore and maintain the integrity of roadway surfaces; maintain roadside slopes, shoulders, culverts and ditches to restore drainage and prevent erosion; and repair or replace related roadway appurtenances such as guardrails, markers, guide posts and fences.

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2024-006, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31th, 2024. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located in Eureka, NV. As part of this crew, performs routine maintenance including snow/ice removal, shoulder/appurtenance repair & maintenance, emergency response for accidents, floods, and hazards to provide traffic control. This crew maintains over 250 lane miles, including US 50, SR 278, and SR 892. Summits include 7195' and 7484' in elevation, requiring regular attention to remove or mitigate snow and ice.
