Job Details

The position will be responsible for maintaining equipment both in maintenance and project work at Tippecanoe Laboratories. The mechanic will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs primarily on rotating equipment. The mechanic will perform some pipefitting, carpenter, basic sheet metal fabrication and rigging tasks.

The Maintenance Mechanic perfo specialized maintenance and repair services in either multiple crafts (such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, painting, and millwrighting), or in a single craft but with significant, specialized expertise. Has a sound understanding of the maintenance history of the building, equipment, and other facilities to be maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, Et procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and piping systems, making repairs for longevity.
  • Typical responsibilities will include bearing replacement, agitator seal replacement, pump repairs and rebuilds, equipment setting and alignment, manufacture and machining of replacement parts, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate proficient usage of dial indicators, micrometers, laser alignment equipment, and other related instruments
  • Demonstrate ability to perform high precision machining and milling
  • Exhibit Pipefitting skills such as, basic fabrication, threading, and repairs.
  • Document work performed in the CMMS, including history notes, time charges and parts procurement.
  • Maintenance work performed must meet all Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements. Work on this type of equipment must be documented correctly in the CMMS.
  • Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories


REQUIREMENTS
  • Four years of Industrial maintenance experience (mechanic, machinist, millwright
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent computer skills to utilize Word, Excel, etc.
  • Solid knowledge in the use of CMMS.
  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude, with demonstrated ability to read and use manufacturer's service manuals.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Rigging/lifting training
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of customers
