Evaluate and process Financial Assistance Application after medical services have been rendered. This includes working with the patients and their families to determine their ability to pay negotiate payment arrangement and or administer hospital and state financial assistance programs, following the principles and guidelines of the Houston Healthcare Financial Assistance Policy. In Patient rounding which includes visiting patients in their rooms, providing clarity for patient in regards to their financial responsibilities, collections, assistance and or resources available to assist patient with payment of their bills. Patient Portal registrations, for those patients who have access to internet and email, to make available to the patient medical information that is associated with Houston Healthcare. Customer Service duties include assisting any walk in patients with insurance questions, and or payment arrangements. Financial Counseling provides services at Houston Medical Center, Perry Hospital and Patient Financial Services at the Pavilion Complex.
Associates Degree in Healthcare, Business, or Finance. Experience may qualify in lieu of education requirement. One (1) year experience in hospital registration, business office or financial environment. Education & Training requirement may qualify in lieu of experience. Effective analytical skills when multitasking and dealing with the technical aspects in the role of Financial Counselor. The Financial Counselor needs to be able to plan, prioritize and organize work load in a time sensitive environment. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, with the patient and or family members explaining the processes and procedures, associated with the Financial Assistance application and any and all other resources that are available. Is adaptable and comfortable in an environment that deals with constant change. Shows enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication to the patient centered mission statement at Houston Healthcare
