Service Technician Intern


Job Details

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Complete consistent and quality service repairs on Spartan and non-Spartan vehicles such as emergency response bodies and chassis, motorhome chassis, and specialty vehicles

* Ask for clarification and direction whenever necessary to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the assigned task

* Document cause and corrections for all assigned repairs

* Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete assigned duties

* Read and follow detailed installation instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required for assigned task

* Self-check work for accuracy

* Use basic hand, electric, cordless, pneumatic and measuring tools as required.

* Conduct oneself purposefully and consistently within the structure of the guiding principles and mission statement of the company

* Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner based on priorities

* Complete proper forms and documents with the Team Leader's assistance to ensure accuracy

* Work quickly and effectively while maintaining quality of work

* Complete small special projects, as needed

* Other tasks as assigned

* Currently enrolled as a student in a Technical or College program majoring in an automotive repair or medium, heavy duty vehicle curriculum, preferably a second year student pursuing an accociates degree in an automotive or truck related field

* Previous automotive or truck repair experience preferred

* Willing and able to obtain a State of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit

* State of Michigan Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) certifications and ASE HDT Repair Certifications (T2 to T8) preferred

* Able to follow established processes and procedures

* Intermediate level user on Microsoft Office applications

* Proven time management abilities; capable of meeting due dates

* Strong organizational skills

* Willing to learn about general business practices and customer satisfaction

* Able to interact with cross-functional teams and maintain effective working relationships with internal associates

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Excellent attendance

* Positive attitude

* Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task

* Team oriented

* Capable of comprehensive listening (understanding the message(s) that is being communicated)
