Synerfac is seeking a Purchasing Assistant for our client in Newport News, VA. Our client is a leader in custom precision sheetmetal manufacturing on the East Coast.

The Purchasing Assistant negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. The candidate will work closely with the Purchasing Agent, Production Supervisor, Engineering, Customer service, and Office Manager of a manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:
Determine supplies and raw material needs.
Create bills of materials.
Create part number records in database.
Creating Purchase Orders using manufacturing software, and submit to vendors. Verify receipt of PO with vendor.
Maintain vendor relationships.
Research alternate vendors; research and source materials from existing or new vendors.
Expediting open vendor purchase orders.
Receiving incoming materials into database.
Produce Excel spreadsheet and database reports.
Become familiar with work orders used for production.
Performing inventory.

Job Requirements
1+ years of Purchasing Experience
Ability to work with vendors to get product delivered in a timely manner to support production, and work with vendors to negotiate pricing.
2+ years of Office Administration Experience
Knowledge of standard purchasing & shipping terms.
Ability to read and understand basic blueprints.
Great math skills required : addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to understand and convert decimals and fractions.
