Job Description: Scientist or Senior Scientist, Biochemistry


Responsibilities include:

  • Work in a highly collaborative team focused on advancing our gene editing platforms.
  • Lead biochemical characterization of novel editing systems.
  • Contribute to platform development strategy and design/build/test engineered systems.
  • Maintain detailed, well-organized, and timely documentation of experiments and data.
  • Effectively analyze and present data, and communicate research plans and timelines to the team.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field or B.S./ B.A. with 5+ years of biotech industry experience.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with structure-guided protein/RNA engineering and optimization or high-throughput selection screens.
  • Protein or RNA purification and assay development.

  • Attention to detail, with the ability to extract deep insights from data.
  • Ability to go from ideation to data in an independent fashion.
  • Long-term personal vision with defined career goals.
  • High EQ with team-oriented thinking.
  • Expertise in purification, biochemical characterization, and engineering of CRISPR-Cas and/or gene-editing enzymes.
  • Experience using cryo-electron microscopy for protein structure determination.
  • Experience leading protein science teams to meet objectives successfully.
  • Expertise in mammalian cell culture.
