Overview: The Material Handler is responsible for performing both physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This role ensures that goods are handled efficiently and accurately, maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Job Description:
- Receiving and Inspection:
- Check goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
- Maintain accurate records of received goods.
- Reject unsatisfactory items and document discrepancies.
- Order Fulfillment:
- Package and prepare products and merchandise for final shipment.
- Post weights and shipping charges accurately.
- Prepare and maintain shipping records.
- Inventory Management:
- Review customer orders and stock inventory accordingly.
- Examine, stock, and distribute merchandise, products, and materials within inventory warehouses, distribution centers, or manufacturing lines.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and organization.
- Operational Duties:
- Lift heavy items and operate a forklift as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications/Requirements: - Ability to lift heavy items and operate a forklift.
- Experience with inventory management and shipping processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills: - Physical stamina and ability to handle heavy merchandise.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and maintaining shipping documents.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and handling customer orders.
- Basic math skills for weighing items and calculating shipping costs.
Work Environment: - Predominantly warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Regularly requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
- May involve working with hazardous materials and operating heavy machinery.
