Director of Food Service


Job Details

Road Ranger, a growing multi-state travel center company, is seeking to add a Director of Food Service to its Operations Department. This position will be responsible for directing and leading the growth and profitability of both the branded and unbranded foodservice categories for the Company's operations. Qualified candidates will have 10 or more years of management experience in operations, foodservice, food concepts, quick service restaurants ("QSR") and/or deli operations. This experience should include P&L responsibility, concept development, roll-out and training. Experience with multi-unit oversight with direct accountability for profitability is required for this position. Travel and overnight stays will be required for this position. Additional duties, responsibilities and key competencies are as follows:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete, monitor, enforce, and achieve annual budgets for Company foodservice categories;
    • Understand the P&L and how both food categories affect Store, District and Company performance;
    • Suggest pricing targets to achieve sales and margin targets;
    • Report and present operating performance to senior management;
    • Stay informed of new products and programs through competitor store visits, vendor contacts and trade magazines;
    • Execute marketing events and promotions to enhance sales and product offering awareness;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with franchise partners;
  • Demonstrate ability to assess performance using key metrics and quickly identify improvement opportunities relating to sales, efficiency and product performance;
  • Have a demonstrated track record in developing, implementing and evaluating short and long-term goals that address business challenges and opportunities;
  • Enforce and execute strong franchise compliance with the ability to implement throughout multiple stores;
  • Possess a strong knowledge of food handling, food safety and compliance with health codes;
  • Develop implement training and programs for operational personnel on food service safety and operating procedures;
  • Develop and implement Company directives and initiatives;
  • Drive the execution of succession planning, workforce planning and personnel development initiatives across the stores;
  • Setup and maintain effective and efficient channels of communications with District Managers, Food Service Specialists, and store personnel;
  • Communicate with all Company Departments to ensure effective implementation of programs;
  • Instill a culture of accountability, and cultivate a culture of coaching, engagement and teamwork;
  • Possess a proven record of excellence in improving and delivering an excellent customer experience.
