Description

LAFCU is currently looking to hire a Finance Manager to supervise the daily operations of the Finance Department. The right candidate will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of the finance personnel. Implement established plans, goals, and objectives. Prepare reports, including annual plan and operating budgets. Ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial completion of financial and accounting records for the Credit Union.

Finance Manager duties:

  • Manages and supervises day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including regular staff meetings, work schedules, payroll, reviews, and procedures.
  • Monitors internal bookkeeping processes and procedures for compliance with established policies, regulations, and laws as pertaining to department responsibilities.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure timely posting and reconciliation of credit union corporate activity and manage risk within the department.
  • Participates in Business Continuity Plan development and execution and department communications.
  • Performs periodic analysis or reports for CFO.
  • Develops and maintains proper internal controls for all department functions.
  • Provide backup for various reporting.
  • Provides reconciliation oversight.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Experience
  • Three to five years of proven financial analyst or similar experience.
  • Proven proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and financial software applications.
Education
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in accounting, economics, or statistics; or
  • Achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills
  • Extensive personal contact with others, often of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level.
  • Outside contacts are important; fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) is necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services.
Other Skills
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, credit unions, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to pivot and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent reporting, presenting, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, reaching, reading, and speaking in a normal office setting.
