**Position Summary**

Responsible for creation and implementation of safety strategies, policies and practices to achieve industry excellence in the area of industrial health and safety. Set the vision and strategy to integrate safety initiatives into the business operating strategies. Partner with leadership to develop related policies that ensure a strategic and collaborative approach to achieving alignment across the fleet and ensure nuclear fleet performance meets high industry standards of excellence in industrial safety. Responsible for the execution and adherence to industry safety regulations and policies for the two nuclear sites within the Xcel Energy nuclear fleet. Responsible areas within the Industrial Safety area include Nuclear Industrial Safety Program Standards, Incident Investigations, and Reporting, Corporate/Site Safety Improvement Initiatives, and Industrial Safety Performance Metrics.

**Essential Responsibilities**

* Ensures consistency among the Xcel Nuclear Stations through the development and implementation of standardized policies, programs, processes, and practices in the Industrial Safety functional Areas.

* Identifies, prioritizes, and resolves differences between the stations in their execution of procedures and performance of work practices related to safety.

* Provides oversight over the Industrial Safety programs, policies, and processes to ensure established standards are being met. Ensures that issues in the implementation phase of governance changes are getting resolved.

* Directs, develops, and prioritizes improvement items for the Industrial Safety functional area and develops a schedule for implementation of these items. Reviews initiatives for cost-benefit, process efficiency, and process effectiveness. Ensure pilots identified by the peer group have a specific purpose, are appropriately reviewed, are supported and planned, then monitors with decision dates and success criteria.

* ) Point of contact with the nuclear industry in the Industrial Safety functional area by remaining engaged and active with industry initiatives and knowledgeable of industry trends that may impact Xcel Energy. Serves as the lead in the Industrial Safety Areas with the Utilities Services Alliance (USA) Core Peer Team.

* Ensure the Industrial Safety functional area staff support high performance standards. This includes oversight over current staffing levels and demographics, workforce pipeline size and schedule, health of the knowledge and skill retention program, and future industry initiatives that impact staffing and qualifications for the Industrial Safety area.

* Perform ERO (Emergency Response Organization) duties based on site-specific assignment.

**Minimum Requirements**

* Bachelor's degree in safety or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a nuclear plant in a line organization combined with three years supervisory experience.

* Demonstrated ability to lead others, promote a team environment, coach and mentor.

* Knowledge of applicable state and federal utility safety and compliance regulations is required.

* Ability to develop effective processes is required.

* Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and rapidly changing business environment, integrating with multiple groups and customers, managing and facilitating teams.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $100,000 to $142,000 per year
