Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a professional FAA part 107 certified remote unmanned aircraft system (UAS) pilot to fly and support our clients in the Hammond, IN metropolitan area and across the country as needed.

This is a skilled position in a fast-changing industry working in the exciting field of UAS inspections. The pilot must be capable of performing all advanced piloting activities in addition to assigning tasks and guiding field team members. This position requires UAS experience, leadership, people skills and technical talent along with ability to complete inspections with the UAS and via boots on the ground. Candidates must be prepared to readily accept these requirements and will be properly trained to work in these environments.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:**

* Complete all work with SAFETY being the first priority.

* Conduct pre-flight checklists, safety/risk assessments, and mission planning.

* Safely fly multi-rotor UASs in accordance with FAA Part 107 laws and regulations and work with minimum supervision.

* Organize and deliver acquired images and data in a timely manner in order to be processed by back-office Orbital team members.

* Use software to process UAS collected data.

* Apply understanding of photography and videography concepts.

* Complete work within allotted schedule and meet applicable expectations and quality standards, and performance requirements set by the client and Orbital.

* Interface directly with the client and other Orbital staff.

* Attend industry training and maintain currency in certifications as required.

* Complete drone maintenance activities per Orbitals and the drone manufacturers requirements.

* Generate a comprehensive and accurate inspection report in Orbitals inspection database.

* Detect possible structural and other system defects and faults in assets inspected.

* Thoroughly record field notes using a tablet via Orbitals in-house developed inspection application.

* Accurately read and comprehend engineering drawings.

* Use graphic instructions, such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids to inform flight planning.

* Apply intensive and diversified knowledge in broad areas of assignments, especially projects concerned with unique or specialized problems.

* Complete company developed training modules.

**Minimum Requirements**

* Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate.

* High School Diploma.

* Minimum of 200 hours of commercial UAS flight time.

* Must have good mechanical aptitude, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and be able to meet rigid deadlines.

* Ability to adapt to different working environments is essential.

* Computer proficient across many software platforms. Must be able to utilize a variety of computer applications including MS Office, and other on-line cloud storage and data transfer tools.

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Holds private pilot license.

* Some college or technical school is a plus.

* Experience working in a technical UAS team.

* Aeronautical knowledge.

* Experience in photogrammetry, GIS, thermal imaging, and/or LiDAR scans.

* Process data files from UAS through Pix4D or equal to a format to be processed in Autodesk Civil 3D, Plant 3D or equal.
