Who We Are:

The Aerospace Structures section of the Structural Engineering Department focuses on the development and life management of military aircraft. It provides turn-key research and development services, state-of-the-art structural analysis capability, and full-scale vehicle to small-scale component testing for all segments of the aerospace community. The Aerospace Structures Section also has a long-established history in supporting Aircraft Structural Integrity Programs (ASIP).

Objectives of this Role:
  • Work under the direction of Engineer(s) to assemble component and full scale structural tests.
  • Maintain/support structural tests via hydraulic maintenance, test reconfiguration, and data acquisition.
  • Provide opportunities to work with various weapons systems.
  • Provide opportunities to apply and utilize various test instrumentation (strain gages, string potentiometers, and load cells).
  • A strong interest in structures and/or aerospace testing is desirable.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on detailed, work in a laboratory environment.
  • Work in a team environment to solve problems that do not have a clear solution path.
  • Setup, tear down, and maintain structural tests.
  • Install, document, and photograph test instrumentation.
  • Setup and troubleshoot hydraulic controls and pumps.
Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a mechanical aptitude.
  • 2-10 years: Hands on mechanical skills. Must be able to use hand tools, power hand tools and precision measurement/alignment tools (micrometers, multimeters, tape measures).
  • 0-2 years: Prior work experience in hydraulics, plumbing, instrumentation or electrical systems desired.
  • 1-2 years: Basic computer skills.
  • 1-2 years: Communication and time management skills.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
