Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist

Job Details

Site Therapeutics aims to map down to the nucleotide the genetic determinants driving immune cell function in human health and disease. Leveraging technology developed in the Marson Lab at UCSF/Gladstone, we will conduct high-throughput functional genomics in human cells to build a blueprint for fine-tuned control of immune cell function. This detailed map will lead to the development of new therapeutics across modalities for a range of immune-related conditions. We are backed by The Column Group, a leading life sciences venture capital firm.

We are seeking passionate scientists and research associates of all levels with a strong interest in adaptive immunology and functional genomics to join our launch team. Our Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist position will be a part of our team to systematically map residues governing disease-relevant phenotypes.

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist will be:

  • Deploying molecular biology techniques on primary cells, including next generation sequencing (NGS) and gene editing techniques
  • Culture and optimization of mammalian cells and primary immune cells
  • Optimization of biological and biochemical assays to screen and validate novel targets
  • Flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) of primary human cells
  • Development of novel protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the new company
  • Close collaboration with a team of Scientists and other Research Associates to stick to tight timelines while creating a large map of genomic sites impacting immune cells

Strong organizational and communication skills are required. This position represents an excellent opportunity to join a cutting-edge genetic editing research team at the frontier of human immunology in a dynamic, rapidly evolving research environment.

Qualifications:

  • BS plus 2-7 years of experience or MS plus 0-5 years of experience (some early-stage startup experience preferred)
  • Strong experience with mammalian cell culture, primary immune cell culture experience preferred
  • Lentiviral manufacturing / transduction experience
  • Experience with flow cytometry and/or FACS
  • Hands-on experience utilizing molecular biology approaches like PCR, DNA isolation, and molecular cloning; gene editing technology is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities
  • Ability to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Self-starter with an interest in building a team from the ground up at a brand new start-up

We offer:

In addition to a competitive compensation package with stock options, we offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits for employees and their families.
