Research Scientist, Protein Sciences
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $83,200 - $93,600 per year
Location: South San Francisco, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
As a Research Scientist, you will contribute to discovering and developing novel therapeutics for treating neurodegenerative diseases. You will support our discovery organization, which is focused on sample preparation for in vitro and in vivo studies to advance projects from discovery to development. You will work closely with the Protein Sciences team to prepare samples and SOPs/COAs for preclinical studies. Work closely with our Informatics group to maintain sample inventory and upload final QC documents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other members in Protein Sciences to prepare large molecule biotherapeutics for preclinical studies (in vivo and in vitro), including analytics, inventorying/storage, and shipping to external CROs.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for key biotherapeutics.
- Deliver purified biotherapeutic protein(s) to project teams.
- Collaborate with Informatics and other group members to establish and continuously improve tools that aid in the registration of the samples.
- Maintain excellent records, such as in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs).
- Proactively communicate results with members of the group if there are any questions.
- Coordinate activities with functional groups and project teams to meet timelines and efficiency goals.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate or B.S.; industry experience is preferred.
- Must be neat, organized, and detail-oriented
- Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Have taken at least one laboratory course in biology, chemistry, or physics or worked in a laboratory environment
- Experience with biochemistry techniques, including protein quantitation, protein purification, and/or biophysical/biochemical assays
- Knowledge of and experience with protein purification and handling is preferred.
