Hudson Table is a recreational culinary studio and event space in Philadelphia. We specialize in providing unique culinary experiences to our clients, whether taking a hands-on cooking class or enjoying a fully catered event in our open-kitchen. We are looking for Kitchen Assistants to join our growing team.

The role as a Kitchen Assistant is a unique blend of back of house and front of house operations.

Hands-On Classes: You will use your culinary knowledge to help our clients learn techniques and kitchen etiquette, while also delivering excellent hospitality to create an enjoyable customer experience.

Catered Events and Public Dinners: In addition to helping with hands-on cooking classes, you will assist the head chef in preparing a multi-course menu for our private catered events or public dinners and brunches. You will experience ever-changing menus that evolve with the seasons and are curated directly for the client.

Compensation: Hourly Wage - $16.50-$18.00/hour plus additional tips

**Must be available for evening and weekend shifts.**

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Set up the kitchen with proper equipment for hands-on cooking classes and events and ensure that all equipment is clean and functional.

* Prepare mise en place for the workstations, which includes measuring, washing, and preparing ingredients and equipment.

* Review recipes, lesson plans, and pull sheets to ensure all the ingredients and equipment are in place and staff is prepared to greet customers.

* During class, assist the Chef/Culinary Instructor and guests with the food items and equipment.

* Answering questions raised by students on equipment, processes, recipes, etc. and deferring to the chef instructor where needed.

* Make sure the kitchen and prep areas remain clean: remove dirty dishes and used equipment as the class or event progresses and any spills or messes are quickly cleared. Make sure that used equipment is brought to the dishwasher.

* Return clean dishes, tools and equipment to the designated storage areas in the classroom / kitchen.

* Breakdown and clean kitchen areas ensuring all equipment (pots, pans, dishes, silverware and glasses) are properly cleaned and stored.

* Review ending inventory with beginning inventory to ensure all products and equipment are accounted for.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Director or Chef Instructor.

* Assist with preparation of a multi-course catered event or public dinner.

* Demonstrate ability to prepare foods with efficiency and technique to ensure a quality product for our guests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Culinary degree from an accredited program preferred but not required

- Minimum 1 2 years of experience in the food industry

- Must be familiar or can identify food ingredients

- Must have an understanding of food and kitchen safety

- Demonstrate ability to multi-task

- Demonstrate ability to set up and break down rooms for classes in a timely fashion

- Ability to bend and lift 40 60 pounds

- Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions

- Must understand FOH operations and be able to deliver a good customer experience

- Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail

- Good communication including listening skills required

- Proven ability to work independently at times and within a team

- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines

- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

- A strong interest in food and cooking preferred

**Compensation Details**

Compensation: Hourly ($17.00) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $150
