Duties
Knox Warren Special Education is seeking an energetic and dynamic individual to:
Provide Nursing services to students in the special education cooperative within the scope of practice, authorized and indicated in the health care plans of students.
Maintain accurate records.
Physical ability to perform the duties required of a nurse practicing in a school setting, such as ability to physically move about the school building, going up and down several flights of stairs, ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds) if assistance is needed, responding to medical emergencies, and treating patients on the ground
Assist with nursing duties including, but not limited to: medication administration, attending to minor illness and injuries, promoting wellness and safety of students.
Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from
diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safely within the LPN scope of practice.
Identifies, monitors, and manages students with chronic disease and disabilities, and documents the services provided in accordance with orders and care plan.
Provides emergency crisis nursing care for physically and/or psychologically ill and injured students and staff.
Maintains communicable disease prevention and control through education, policy and enforcement.
Maintains thorough and comprehensive health-related reports, monthly reports, and emergency reports, and ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
Maintains required certifications and licenses; attend training as required.
Identifies/monitors health issues, and consults with the member district's RNs as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator and/or registered nurse.
Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
