**Responsibilities**

The Transportation Specialist provides direct care, safety and security, and supervision of residents through positive role modeling. The Specialist actively works to support the facility mission of providing an environment of safety so that the residents feel empowered to heal the wounds of the past and build a foundation of hope for the future.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - ***Education and/or Experience***

High School Diploma or GED required and one (1) year experience working in a childrens services program or residential setting is preferred. Associates or bachelors degree in human services, psychology or related field preferred.

- ***Certifications, Licenses, Registrations***

* Certified in CPR and First Aid

* Valid State Drivers License with appropriate Endorsement

Must be an authorized driver which means you cannot have any of the following:

* If the state record indicates that the drivers license is currently revoked, suspended or that the status is not valid and current

* Multiple violations for driving without insurance

* Two at-fault accidents during the past three (3) years

* Three (3) moving violations during the last three (3) years

* Driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions.

- ***Language Skills***

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy/procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and document client behavior. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.

- ***Mathematical Skills***

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- ***Reasoning Ability***

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- ***Physical Demands***

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

- ***Therapeutic Hold***

The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized hold procedures as a last resort for protection of resident and staff.

- ***Work Environment***

The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self- destructive behaviors. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
