Accountant W/ Payroll Experience
Salary: $65,000-$75,000 (DOE) and benefits
Location: Troy, AL (onsite)
Schedule: M-F, 8am-5pm
Summary/Objective
Under the controller's direction, the candidate will handle payroll administration and accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, billing, and expense reports. Responsibilities include processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, managing employee advances, maintaining records, and reconciling accounts. The role involves liaising with employees, payroll processors, auditors, and agencies, requiring strong knowledge of accounting, payroll, HR, and benefits administration.
Essential Functions
Accounting: A/P, A/R, billings, expense reports Contractor cost management with TRACK Software Communicate with field supervisors for payroll processing Weekly spare parts invoices Reconcile credit card statements (70+ accounts) Code/post expense reports using GL codes/job cost entries Payroll: Weekly for field employees and Bi-weekly for office employees: Verify timesheets, calculate wages, process payroll, client billing Process advances and journal entries Update and maintain records, including new hires Monthly reconciliation with tax returns/reports Employee verifications & garnishments Maintain reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) Benefits data management (401K, insurance)
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (a plus, but not required) 4 years of relative accounting experience, including 2 years of full-charge payroll & HR/Employee Benefits experience Experience with Foundation and/or Payroll4Construction software preferred About the Company:
