The Virginia Beach Police Department - Training Bureau is seeking to hire a motivated candidate to fill the position of Office Assistant II. The responsibility for the successful candidate will be to provide clerical support to the Training Bureau staff members. This will include, but is not limited to:
- Routing paperwork and mail to appropriate personnel
- Handling confidential information on a daily basis
- Typing documents such as letters, memos and certificates
- Maintaining a list of inter-departmental transfers for employee
- Daily use of Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Recording training information for sworn and civilian personnel in various databases and spreadsheets
- Assisting with the facilitation of the Professional Development Program and Cadet Program
- Serving as back-up for the VA Benefits School Certifying Official
- Assisting the Recruitment & Selection Team with various stages of the hiring process for police recruit applicants
- Notarizing various documents as needed
- Assisting with records management
- Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on current workloads and department needs.

Criminal History : Conviction of any felony or any crime involving moral turpitude (crimes contrary to justice, honesty, or good morals). Conviction of any Class 1 or Class 2 misdemeanor, excluding traffic violations which are discussed separately, or the Virginia State Law equivalent within the last 5 years.
Traffic Violations : Any conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to take blood or breath test, eluding police, racing, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 5 years.
Drugs : Any involvement in the sale of illegal drugs as an adult. Any illegal use or possession of any illegal drug, including but not limited to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens or any derivative thereof (except marijuana) within the last five years. Illegal possession of anabolic steroids within the last 36 months.
