Description

Overall Position Purpose

The Data Architect position exists to execute the Technology Division's data services team goal to deliver data governance, analytics, modeling, and experimentation. The position will engage in design and management of extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, develop, and maintain the data dictionary of Inteleos' data systems, ensure clean and consistent data is available for use in experimentation, modeling, and retrospective analysis. This position will work directly with internal stakeholders to understand the business needs and will work with cross-department teams to ensure we can make data accessible to deliver trusted data-driven analytical solutions to optimize business performance. The Data Architect will promote and support the Inteleos culture of inclusivity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity;
  • Responsible for management and evolution of the Inteleos Data Warehouse footprint;
  • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility, and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization;
  • Perform analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in their resolution;
  • Work closely with software development engineers and IT infrastructure teams to ensure all data related business processes are working properly;
  • Design and evaluate open source and vendor tools for data lineage;
  • Develop strategy for long-term data platform architecture in conjunction with business units and engineering teams; Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long-term data platform architecture;
  • Implement processes based on internal standards, policies, and best practices to ensure availability, usability, quality, integrity, and security of the data in enterprise systems, that also control data usage;
  • Design data integrations and data quality framework;
  • Monitor data models and use of data for alignment to Inteleos' cultural attributes; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Environment
  • Works under general supervision with broadly defined work objectives.
  • Makes decision of some complexity regarding work design and project management which regularly impact the next organizational layer and may impact an organizational function.
  • Work projects and products are subject to management review for content, quality, and appropriateness.
  • Has no formal supervisory responsibility, though make provide regular work direction for other employees.

Work Environment

The incumbent will work at a desk in an office environment or an approved remote location. This position may require evening and weekend hours, as well as occasional travel. There are minimal requirements to lift or move equipment.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, certification or equivalent in Business, data architecture/engineering, data analytics, quantitative analysis, or related field;
  • Minimum of three years working with schema design and dimensional data modeling;
  • Minimum of three years designing, building, or maintaining data processing systems;
  • One to three years of experience working with data sets in the data analysis, data preparation, data cleaning, and/or data governance domains;
  • One to three years working as part of a data team; and
  • Minimum of one year working with SQL and relational databases.

Required Qualifications/ Skills
  • Experience with ETL practices and tools such as SSIS, Talend, Alteryx or similar;.
  • Experience preparing data for Tableau, PowerBI, or similar visualization tools and knowledge of visualization and dashboard design principles;
  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse principles and design and implementation of data models for data warehouses;
  • Knowledge of relational database structures such as tables, views, indexes and keys;
  • Ability to read, write and interpret SQL, XML, Java and JSON;
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities;
  • Strong process orientation with exceptional documentation skills;
  • Outstanding problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities;
  • Effective, efficient, and professional interaction with all organizational levels;
