About the Role


One of our non-profit partner organizations is seeking a proven Director of Finance for their organization based in Palm Beach County. This role will report to the CEO of the organization and will have a team under them.


This is a key position on the leadership team and will be tasked with managing and executing all financial management of the organization and its subsidiaries.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership

  • Maintain and implement policies and procedures for all financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Reports to management regarding decision making about policy issues, compensation and costs associated with organization operations.
  • Fosters a collaborative and supportive environment within the finance department, promoting teamwork, professional development, and a culture of excellence. Provides strong leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Finance team members to ensure effective performance, growth, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Serves as a strategic partner and service member to other departments by providing financial insight, analysis, and support to facilitate informed decision-making and operational efficiency across the organization.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of the financial database, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and security of financial information. Implements improvements and updates as needed to enhance efficiency and support decision-making processes across the organization.


Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Leaders and Board of Directors to develop annual income and expense budget. Provide timely and complete reporting of financial results and recommendations for necessary actions to maintain the fiscal health of the organization.
  • Work closely with leadership and managers to:
  • Maintain, analyze, and interpret budgets for all funds.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports on a monthly and as needed basis.
  • Assure proper internal control systems and practices are in place at all operations.
  • Assure data collection provides insightful and useful information.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources department to establish and maintain policies regarding youth employment, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations while optimizing opportunities for earned business income, fostering a supportive environment for both youth development and organizational sustainability.
  • Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, cash flow and cost savings, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust financial policies, procedures and controls in response to organization growth, including our culinary and workforce programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements to support sustainable business practices and operational efficiency.


Resource Management

  • Lead organizational planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, and control expenditures against budget.
  • Ensure the maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure a productive and professional work environment within the finance and accounting functions.
  • Leads organizational planning and development, with the support of the CEO and organizational department heads.
  • Lead and manage the annual audit process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Meets annually with the outside auditors and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors to review the annual audit and 990 tax return and ensure timely and accurate completion of audits.


Abilities and Knowledge:

  • CPA preferred.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in non-profit financial management.
  • Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and principles of non-profit, charity based organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate finance operation and personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key finance personnel, budget management and knowledge of state and federal grants processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies.
