PER DIEM SCHEDULE - ONE WEEKEND PER MONTH, ONE SUMMER HOLIDAY, AND ONE WINTER HOLIDAY PER MONTH


JOB DESCRIPTION:


The Creative Art Therapy Assistant provides support to the Creative Arts Therapists and other clinical staff in the Behavioral Health setting. By providing recreational and leisure time activity services for treatment, development, maintenance and expression of an appropriate leisure/social lifestyle for individuals with physical, mental, emotional or social limitations. The Creative Arts Therapy Assistant is a vital part of the Treatment Team.


JOB QUALIFICATION:


A minimum of 2 years Behavioral health experience


Professional experience in Therapeutic Recreation or Creative Arts Therapy or an Assoc. degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Certification or certificates eligibility


Demonstrated proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office applications


Ability to work collaboratively and independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments


Strong organizational skills


Team player in fast paced environment who is able to prioritize tasks independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills required with ability to change direction rapidly, and flexibly


Commitment to continuing professional development


Preferred Skills/Abilities:

Education and Qualifications:


High school education or equivalent GED


Physical Demands:


Must be able to respond quickly in an emergent situation


Must be able to communicate orally in an emergent situation


Must be able to use stairs in an emergent situation


Must be able to communicate orally and in writing


Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer


Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs


Must be able to push/pull up to 20 lbs


Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations facilities


Ability to bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulders.


Must be able to fully participate in Crisis Prevention.

Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook ELI 's Employee Health Services*


Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*


Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.


Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).



Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.


*The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
