A thriving Food business is looking to hire an innovative, successful leader and negotiator to be its new Director of Distribution & Logistics. This is a critically important position in the Supply Chain Leadership team for the business and oversees both Strategic responsibilities, together with fundamental Operational Tactical responsibilities across multiple sites in the company s network. The role oversees a team of direct reports, and is accountable for both in-house, and, 3rd party operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 5-6 direct reports
- Responsible for all Inbound & Outbound transportation
- Oversee Warehousing for finished goods, materials and packaging
- Manage and develop relationships with, and performance of 3rd Party Logistics service providers
- Lead contract negotiation and implementation of 3PL warehousing operations, measuring and managing their performance
- Support and drive initiatives for freight optimization, cost review, freight bids
- Track and monitor inventory levels across the End2End supply chain
- Collaborate closely with customer experience and internal production teams to ensure timely fulfilment of orders
- Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Bachelor s degree (ideally in an analytical subject)
- 15+ years experience in a Manufacturing organization
- Strong process improvement & cost saving accomplishments
- Project Management experience
- Experience with managing teams of direct reports
- Good understanding of both WMS and TMS technologies
