PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Custodian provides custodial services at assigned locations; ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for employee owners and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and assisting in preparing facilities for routine and special occasions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the employee owner will:

  • Sweep, mop, and scrub hallways, stairs, bathrooms, factory, break areas, and office space
  • Ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Empty trash and garbage containers
  • Inventory necessary cleaning supplies
  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job
  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area
  • Demonstrate regular, consistent attendance


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to operate equipment including: vacuum cleaners, floor machines, carpet extractors, mop, brooms, and other job-related equipment as assigned
  • Must have ability to work with little to no supervision, maintain confidentiality, and be able to independently determine tasks to complete daily
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning practices
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with managers, co-workers, visitors, and others
  • Capability to work around dust and with cleaning chemicals
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Job related experience is desired; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
TRAINING - CERTIFICATIONS - LICENSES
  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee:
  • Must be able to frequently stoop/bend.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands and arms.
  • Must be able to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently required lift/move up to 25 pounds and repetitively use hands for simple/light and/or firm/ heavy grasping and fine dexterity
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or less, with assist available.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
  • Specific hearing abilities required for this job include the ability to hear equipment alarms and the ability to hear instructions from others.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
  • The noise level in the work environment is MODERATE.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic chemicals.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves when required.
