About the Job:
Reporting to the CFO, as the Director of Finance you will be responsible for all aspects of the Company s accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and annual audit process. You will oversee the accurate and timely reporting of financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance in all territories the company operates, and coordinate the annual audit engagement. While most of our work is 'remote,' the Director of Finance will need to be within driving distance of our Cary, NC office for occasional onsite meetings and work.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting functions including financial reporting, accounting, management of receivables and payables, payroll and expense management, cash management, and tax compliance including sales tax.
- Assess and evaluate financial performance versus budgets. Lead the business planning process including the development of rolling quarterly forecasts and budgets.
- Manage and grow team responsible for Accounting functions including payables, receivables, payroll, sales tax, monthly and annual close process, and preparation of internal and external financial statements.
- Evaluate, document and implement best business practice systems, internal controls, and processes.
- Foster an exciting, collaborative growth culture and get hands-on when needed to help our team build capabilities.
- Deliver clear management and Board reporting that highlights drivers of budget variances and deeper business insight.
- Effectively interact with all levels of the organization to share financial data and updates on goals on a regular basis.
- Coordinate annual audit and tax engagements with external firms.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in historical accounting, managing general ledger and payroll with a minimum of 5 years management experience.
- Must have strong experience with GAAP accounting, financial reporting & analysis, tax reporting and sales tax.
- Mix of public and private accounting experience, CPA, and MBA are preferred.
- Excellent management skills.
- Experience implementing and transitioning to accounting and payroll software and relevant applications.
- Experience building and/or monitoring control environments for companies with revenue greater than $25M.
- Proficient in cloud based accounting software solutions (such as Microsoft Dynamics or Netsuite), payroll systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) with an ability to learn company-specific programs and software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment with the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Requires excellent initiative, organization, attention to detail and follow through.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills while being highly organized and detail oriented.
- Must be within driving distance of Cary NC office for occasional onsite work and have full work authorization.
Telecommuting Requirements
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents, IT assets and information secure.
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that provides information privacy and promotes deep focus and ability to communicate via teleconference without interruptions.
- Must have the required internet speed of at least 25 Mbps (download) and 5 (upload) (i.e. sufficient to support audio-video teleconferences.)
Special Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work in a remote office environment using a computer for a significant amount of time.
