Job Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform custodial functions to clean and maintain college buildings and grounds as assigned.

Essential functions:

  1. Performs cleaning duties in offices, hallways, classrooms, lobby areas, elevators, and stairways including sweeping, moping, buffing, vacuuming floors, rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture, emptying wastebaskets and trash containers; cleans chalkboards and whiteboards; dust furniture, fixtures, shelves, blinds & window seals; cleans walk-off mats. Disposes of trash and waste-empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  2. Cleans restrooms by sanitizing sinks, toilets, urinals, sweeping, mopping, buffing, floors, empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  3. Empty recycled can/bottle containers. Cleans accessible interior and exterior windows at buildings entrances. Sweeps and cleans porches and walks, keeping the outside of the buildings free of debris, spider webs, etc. Regularly monitors all areas for needed custodial and/or maintenance work. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
  4. Monitors inventories in custodial closet and notifies supervisor of need for restocking cleaning, trash liners & restroom supplies. Attends training and safety meetings and other related meetings, Follows all safety policies and procedures. Assist with setup of facilities for meeting, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. Performs other related duties as required. Respond to emergency calls outside of normal working hours and/or be available to work as support services for college activities such as commencement and other college hosted events outside of normal work schedule.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and 2 years related work experience; or 10th grade education and (3) years related work experience.
