ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Document Prep Clerk to support the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Louisiana (USAO WDLA). Your scope of work focuses on providing comprehensive document review and staffing support services, including examining and organizing legal documents, performing data analysis, and supporting ongoing litigation and investigations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine voluminous amounts of documents relevant to pending litigation and ongoing investigations
  • Assess the relevance or responsiveness of legal data with knowledge of the facts of the case and how they apply to law
  • Review documents in multiple forms, including paper and electronic documents
  • Include electronically stored information in databases, excel spreadsheets, emails, etc.
  • Perform page-by-page review and analysis of documents and evidence
  • Organize the information using manual files and keep an electronic database for final legal review
  • Summarize, tab, highlight, chart, and collect documents or information gleaned from evidence
  • Create discovery listings, privilege logs, and redaction logs
  • Determine document privilege for client/attorney communication or work product
  • Edit or redact the content of the information as necessary
  • Conduct tedious document reviews
  • Use specialized knowledge, including an understanding of the litigation process
  • Operate various computer software platforms
  • Demonstrate proficiency with document review tools and databases
BACKGROUND
  • Must have at least one (1) year of general experience in legal field in clerical, office, or other related work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Understanding of legal documentation processes (e.g., drafting and reviewing legal documents)
  • Knowledge of various computer software platforms and proficiency with document review tools and databases
EDUCATION
  • Certificate or associate's degree in office administration, paralegal studies, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • U.S. citizenship required since this role supports the U.S. federal government
