Summary
We are looking for an Administrative Assistant I to join the City of Charleston's Police Department! In this role, you will schedule appointments, give information to callers, take dictation, and otherwise relieve a small team of employees of clerical work and minor administrative detail.
Examples of Duties
- Reads and routes incoming mail, attaching appropriate files as needed.
- Composes routine correspondence for members of a small section of an office.
- Organizes and maintains file system.
- Greets scheduled visitors and conducts to appropriate location.
- Conducts research and authors statistical reports.
- Copies and scans printed materials.
- Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
- Orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute by touch.
