The Opportunity
The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut (www.mansfieldct.gov) is seeking a temporary office assistant to support its Town Manager's Office. The ideal candidate will be a generalist with a strong administrative skill set. Additionally, candidates must be adept at establishing collaborative working relationships with town staff, town officials, and the general public.

Sample duties include: providing administrative and clerical support to the Town Manager's Office (including Human Resources), Town Council, and assigned boards and commissions; preparing, posting and distributing Council and Committee agendas, minutes, and packets; administering meeting technology; maintaining the Town Manager's schedule; responding to and following up on citizen inquiries; coordinating special projects and events; maintaining filing systems and records; and processing bills. Position reports to the Town Manager.

Mansfield, with a population of approximately 26,000, is located in beautiful northeastern Connecticut. Mansfield has adopted a Council-Manager form of government, with the Town Manager serving as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Town.

Work Schedule & Location
This temporary position is 35 hours per week, with an expected duration of 8-12 weeks during summer 2024. The selected candidate will normally work four consecutive days, Mondays-Thursdays. Additionally, the candidate will work the second and fourth Monday evenings monthly to accommodate Town Council meetings. Other occasional evening or weekend work will be required to meet operational needs of the Department and the Town.

The work location for this position is the Audrey Beck Municipal Building, 4 South Eagleville Road, Mansfield.

Compensation
The rate of pay is $25.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.
There are no benefits associated with this temporary position.

Minimum Training and Experience
Candidates enrolled in, or whom have completed course work in an accredited four year program in public administration, government, public policy, or political science are preferred. Consideration may be given to equivalent experience and training. Candidates must have the ability to work with and maintain confidential information. Possession of a driver's license is required.
