Position Title: Credit Team Lead-Commercial Lending

Reports To: Credit Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position assists and supports the Commercial Lending and Business Banking teams by compiling and analyzing financial and credit information and assisting in the underwriting of commercial loan assets. This position is responsible for the oversight and quality control related to select Credit Analysts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*:

  • Ensures professional, courteous, and efficient service to all internal and external customers through the timely and professional delivery of high-quality financial analysis.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with Federal and State banking regulations, and adherence with all Bank policies and procedures. Participates in the maintenance and updating of Bank policies as required.
  • Responsible for integrating operational tools and software systems. Assists with onboarding new employees via training and integration into bank procedures and systems.
  • Prepares, in concert with the Loan Officer and Credit Analyst, Credit Offering Memoranda including recommending credit decisions and loan structuring, as needed. Mentors Credit Analysts on fundamental principles of credit and financial best practices.
  • Responsible for daily oversight of select Credit Analysts, including but not limited to review of completed work requests, coaching and performance management, coordination of internal training, and addressing employee matters as needed.
  • Assists with management of departmental workflow, distributing incoming credit requests based on underwriting capacity and customer needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining lender consistency in the application of credit risk ratings.
  • Reviews and approves a significant volume of commercial real estate evaluations and commercial appraisals for compliance with USPAP.
  • Researches, identifies and contracts with appropriate vendors to aid in lending and underwriting, including but not limited to qualified appraisers, environmental due diligence and industry research.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (CONTINUED)*:
  • Maintains the confidentiality of credit and customer information.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completes various portfolio reporting for the Board of Directors, as requested.
  • Observes safety and security procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business-related program and a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis within a financial institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstration of GSB core leadership competencies: Builds Effective Teams, Communicates Effectively, Develops Talent, Drives Engagement, Ensures Accountability, Instills Trust, Manages Ambiguity and Strategic Mindset.
  • Prior supervisory and staff development experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Lending Regulations as they pertain to commercial deposit and or lending operations.
  • Highly developed knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in successful analytical conversation and accurately and precisely document analysis and recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to learn Bank technology.
  • Strong internal and external customer focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable.
  • Minimal physical effort required. Normally seated with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
  • Handling of light materials and supplies (up to 20 pounds).
