Machine Maintenance Mechanic

Overview:

As a Millwright, your main responsibility consists of ensuring that the machinery used to conduct normal daily operations run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventing maintenance, managing mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment as well as managing employees, budgets, and cost reporting. This position requires a commitment to work in some cases extended hours during busy periods as well as being a team player dedicated to performing other related activities throughout each day.

Responsibilities:
  • Abide by all safety rules and regulations for the facility.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policy, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Minimize severity or frequency of accidents of contractors and maintenance personnel through the risk identification process.
  • Prepare and manage a weekly maintenance schedule.
  • Address concerns with the facility manager in a timely manner.
  • Maintain schedule compliance and priority.
  • Complete maintenance jobs in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency.
  • Streamline associated repair costs and job execution.
  • Ensure prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate data on repaired jobs including consumption of tools, materials, and others.
  • Review equipment history files.
  • Ensure accurately recorded histories in work order completions.
  • Report maintenance performance during major overhauls.
  • Prioritized work orders as per emergencies and facility priorities.
  • Make sure that maintenance jobs are in accordance with all corporate policies and legislated regulations.
  • Ensure housekeeping, productivity, and quality of work standards are maintained, most especially within the mechanical maintenance department.
  • Aim and strive to achieve 98% reliability on all maintenance jobs.
  • Investigate, provide and implement corrective measures for near misses and all safety incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years combined experience as a Maintenance Technician
  • Must have experience with Electical and Hydraulics

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Basic understanding of the Emaint Platform or any maintenance tracking software
  • Experience with overhead cranes, burning table machines, or other similar machinery is preferred
  • Proven communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, outlook)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Ability and experience negotiating with vendors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at a supervisory level
  • Good attendance and positive attitude a Must
  • Ability to manage conflict
  • Ability to optimize work processes
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to set and meet priorities and deadlines
