: **Basic Purpose Of The Job**

**Supervises Security staff and is responsible for the safety of all areas under hospital control. Supervises Security personnel assigned to them by providing on-the-job training, enforcing hospital policies, and security department directives. Ensures that Security Officers patrol and police the hospital to prevent theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Checks for safety and fire hazards within the building(s) and throughout hospital grounds. Performs general security and safety support duties in all areas under The Hospitals of Providence control and/or contract. Provides security at assigned locations to prevent theft, vandalism and illegal entry for the protection of information, assets and people. Patrols buildings and grounds, and provide assistance to patients, visitors and employees. Reports any unusual activities/conditions that may lead to injury, loss of life, or equipment malfunctions, damage, and/or theft. Assumes leadership of the security department in the absence of the security manager. Is responsible for monitoring staffing ratios to support security departments budget by minimizing overtime and/or utilizing contract security as a supplement if needed. Also reviews incident reports while on duty, prior to submission. Assists security manager in tracking data for EDOs, security activity, EOC surveillance, etc.**

**Qualifications**

: **Minimum Education**

High School Education/ GED

**Required Licenses/Certifications**

* Successful completion of a Security Officers Training Course approved by Texas Commission on Private Security for the Commission or Non-commission Non-expired Guard card.

* Texas Issued Drivers License, Class C

* CPR certified or able to obtain certification six (6) months of date of hire.

* Customer service and conflict interaction skills, preferred.

Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (Non-Violent Intervention) or able to obtain certification six (6) months of date of hire.

**Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities**

- 3 years minimum experience as supervisor/manager

- 5 years minimum experience in security or law enforcement/military equivalent

- Customer service, conflict resolution and interaction skills

- Able to complete a Management of Aggressive Behavior Course

- If served with the Armed Forces, discharge must be under honorable conditions as indicated on the DD214 Form

- Must have reliable means of transportation to work

- Must be available to work various hours and shifts as needed

- Must have telephone service in residence
