Mooring Winch Operator (Hydraulic Tensioning System)

Overview: As a Mooring Winch Operator specializing in Hydraulic Tensioning Systems, the operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining winches used for securing the feeder barge to the vessel. The primary duty will be to ensure the safe and efficient mooring of the feeder barge by maintaining constant tension at specific tonnages using design specific hydraulic mooring systems.


Responsibilities:


  1. Operate Hydraulic Tensioning System: Utilize hydraulic controls to operate the mooring winch and adjust tension levels according to specific tonnage requirements.
  2. Monitor Tension Levels: Continuously monitor tension gauges and control systems to ensure that the mooring lines are maintained at the prescribed tension levels.
  3. Coordinate with Docking Master: Communicate effectively with the Docking Master ad mooring team to coordinate mooring operations and ensure an efficient and safe operation.
  4. Inspect Equipment: Conduct routine inspections of mooring winches, hydraulic systems, and associated equipment to identify any signs of damage, wear, or malfunction. Report any issues to the system vendor and Docking Master for maintenance or repair.
  5. Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of mooring operations, including tension levels, time stamps, and any incidents or anomalies encountered during the process.
  6. Ensure Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while operating mooring winches and handling mooring lines. Take appropriate measures to mitigate risks and prevent accidents or injuries.
  7. Troubleshoot Issues: Assist system vendor to troubleshoot hydraulic systems and winch components to diagnose and resolve any technical problems that may arise during mooring operations.
  8. Assist with set up for sending lines to barge: Assist with the handling of mooring lines on the vessel, including attaching and detaching stretcher lines for the spring and breast lines.
  9. Provide Training: Offer training and guidance to new crew members or personnel assigned to assist with mooring operations, ensuring that they understand proper procedures and safety protocols.
  10. Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the mooring winch area clean and organized, removing debris and ensuring that equipment is stored properly when not in use.


Qualifications:


  • Previous experience operating mooring winches and hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with maritime safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor as required.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and irregular hours.
  • Planned offshore schedule for operator will be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.
