COP Construction LLC, established in 1947, is an experienced heavy civil construction company specializing in underground utilities; treatment plants and pump stations; highways, streets, and bridges; industrial; trenchless construction; hydro excavation; and collaborative delivery methods. **About the Position:**

A Truck Driver/Side Dump Driver is responsible for the proper loading and securing, transportation and unloading of parts, materials, and small equipment used on our jobsites. Truck Drivers deliver construction materials, parts & equipment to various job locations, safely and without incidents. This position is responsible for maintaining proper paperwork, providing timely deliveries to and from jobsites; compliant under FMCSA/DOT regulations and safely operating while working in high traffic and construction area sites.

**Responsibilities**

* Work safely and wear all required personal protective equipment at all times.

* Arrive to work on time.

* Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards.

* Ability to load and unload parts, materials & small equipment safely and efficiently by operating a forklift and/or loader.

* Thorough operational knowledge and skills of operating a commercial motor vehicle and related equipment.

* Operate commercial vehicle according to state and federal laws.

* Determine most efficient route based on load weight, road, and traffic conditions.

* Keep time and material records through drivers daily logs.

* Follow verbal and written instruction.

* Must have maneuvering and backing skills.

* Connect and disconnect trailers.

* Monitor trip permits, overweight and length permits. Ensure proper documentation is on hand during haul.

* Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks, pursuant to DOT regulations.

* Maintain vehicle to ensure safe conditions; includes daily inspections of tires, lights, signals, glass, etc. Vehicle fluids and tire air pressures must be checked and serviced daily.

* Ensure vehicle is ready for next day business, including fuel fills and pre-loads, whenever possible.

* Maintain company truck and trailer appearance to the highest standard. Schedule necessary repairs.

* Observe and ensure all traffic laws are being followed.

* Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.

**Qualifications**

* A minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License with trailer endorsement and clean MVR.

* Perform basic vehicle maintenance

* Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and procedures

* Maintain clear communication with staff and project team members

* Compliant with DOT regulations and FMCSA Clearinghouse registration and query consent

* Maintain a valid DOT medical card

* Successfully pass a DOT drug screen

* Willingness to learn.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out the essential functions of the job.

* Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.

**Physical Requirements**

* Meet all conditions of COPs drug and alcohol testing requirements as a condition of employment, including pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and alcohol test.

* Able and willing to work extended hours and possible nights and weekends, as required.

* Able to sit, walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, feel, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.

* Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, and job hazards.

* Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

* Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
