The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School is accepting applications for a Data and Assessment Manager. The school is seeking a self-motivated, dynamic, and thoughtful individual who believes in progressive inquiry-based education, and has a proven track record of using, organizing and interpreting school level data to join the staff. This is a 12-month position.

The Inspired Teaching Demonstration School serves Prekindergarten - 8th grade. At the Inspired Teaching Demonstration School, a professional learning community of master teachers and teacher residents ensures that a diverse group of students achieve their potential as accomplished learners, thoughtful citizens, and imaginative and inquisitive problem solvers through a demanding, inquiry-based curriculum. With its clear mission and prominent location in Washington, DC, the school serves as a model of instruction for students and training for teachers, with the goal of becoming a leader in changing the way teachers are prepared and supported and students are educated nationwide.

The Role of Data and Assessment Manager

The Data and Assessment Manager supports the school's data management and data driven practices and is responsible for managing and analyzing academic data, managing reporting and compliance, and serving as a liaison with accountability organizations including OSSE and the DC Public Charter School Board. The Data and Assessment Manager works closely with and is supervised by the Principal.

Responsibilities

The Data and Assessment Manager is responsible for the following:

Data maintenance and management:

  • Manage and maintain all student-level academic and behavior data
  • Provide reports and analysis to instructional leaders on student and school data (student-level, grade-level, school-wide) and help identify school or grade-level trends, or individual students, who may need further intervention
  • Prepare, analyze and report out school-wide assessment data to the HOS and leadership team
  • Develops and maintain the Empower K-12 school performance dashboard for updating the HOS, leadership team,and Board of Directors
  • Provide data reports that will support goals for the school in the area of data-driven school improvement
  • Understand all external school evaluation criteria (i.e. PCSB and OSSE school evaluation systems) and support school leaders in meeting internal and external deadlines for data sharing and reporting
  • Monitor school-wide processes for collecting, revising and aligning Preschool-8th grade qualitative data collection (portfolios, artifacts, etc.) to ensure examples and artifacts reflective of high-quality student work exist schoolwide.
Compliance and accountability:
  • Represent the school on district level planning and work teams related to assessment and compliance
  • Serve as liaison to, and respond to data requests and complete reporting requirements, for the Public Charter School Board (PCSB), Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and other external partners
  • Assist with the writing of the annual report of school performance following required guidelines and with input from the HOS and principals
  • Monitor school-wide processes for collecting and storing student information, and identify ways to make data collection and management more efficient and reliable
  • Develop, refine, and/or codify school office policies and procedures in order to streamline the flow of data and make it more reliable and accessible
  • Liaison with EdOps staff on data management tasks
  • Assist the Head of School and Principal with preparing academically related documentation for accreditation reviews and applications
Testing Coordination:
  • Serve as testing coordinator and the school's point of contact for OSSE collaboration regarding standardized testing procedures, structures, and systems.
  • Serve as the school's testing coordinator for internal benchmark testing
  • Create assessment calendar, coordinate and assist with the delivery of District assessments and internal benchmark testing in collaboration with instructional coaches
  • Ensure standardized testing materials are properly ordered, received, and submitted for scoring, and that standardized test data is reported to school staff and other relevant constituencies.
  • Manage standardized testing processes (DC-CAPE) and training for all teachers and staff.
  • Prepare, analyze and report out school-wide assessment data to the Head of School, Principal, leadership team, teachers, and staff at the end of each trimester
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required
  • High degree of experience, skill, and interest in analyzing data in various forms (spreadsheets, database exports) and presenting analysis in easily understandable formats for diverse audiences (educators, families, external audiences)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and especially Microsoft Excel, as well as Google Sheets; excellent skills and comfort with data manipulation, analysis, and presentation in CSV and XLS formats, sometimes with a large volume of data and variables
  • Experience with reports generation in a student records system, CMS, or comparable database
  • Ability to collaborate with teaching staff on understanding and using student data
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to establish strong, trusting, and authentic relationships with a wide variety of individuals, including school administrators, teachers, parents and families, and a diverse local community
  • Provide culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Team player with excellent personal interaction skills; ability to connect with and support a diverse population of students and families
