The Director, Legal Entity Reporting directs and manages the legal entity reporting and compliance on assigned entities, reviews or processes appropriate controls and oversight are in place and functioning properly, coordinates or prepares audited and unaudited reports for entities with medium level complexity, and ensures alignment and coordination with other areas, internal and external, to achieve timely and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the communication efforts with the management group to understand purpose, goals and objective of the respective legal entities.Understand the products, flow of business, accounting methodology and procedures for the entity.
  • Works with other areas, internal and external to the company, to achieve efficient, effective and consistent accounting and reporting practices and procedures and responds to requests on various inquiries.
  • Review, analyze and oversee entity financial reporting process risks and controls on applicable basis of accounting (i.e. GAAP, STAT, local).
  • Performs management and legal entity reporting function ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Meet at least quarterly with immediate supervisor, appointed actuary and entity management.
  • Manage and prepare quarterly summary of results, including explanations of variance from expectation.
  • Review and analyze quarterly financial statements including service charges and general expenses, reconciliation of balances sheet accounts and YTD transaction detail to source systems.
  • Analyze and review quarterly entity balance sheet and financial results, providing to entity management for approval.
  • Manage Compliance requirements.


Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance
  • 10+ years combined accounting/auditing experience, with GAAP reporting and general ledger application experience.
  • 5-8 years insurance accounting experience
  • Systems integration / implementation experience

Skills and Abilities

Required:
  • Intermediate Word, ADVANCED Excel, and ADVANCED SQL/Query skills
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance and general ledger applications (PeopleSoft)
  • Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
  • Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Advanced level of skills in customer relationship management and change management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals
  • Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
  • General business knowledge

The general pay range for this position is $101,685-$151,435 per year.Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
